Music Theory AP Test Practice / Ear Training Work

Welcome to the start of May and a focus on Ear Training and preparation for the AP Test!

Here is the plan for the last few weeks of school...

We will spend some time each class period preparing for the AP test. The focus will be on ear training and sight singing, so event if you are not taking the test, this material is part of the class, part of your grade and very beneficial to all of you.

Each class period will be spent on portions of the AP practice site, along with a focus on a few last topics we need to cover, including modulation, modes, mode mixture, keys review and ear training.

For today's class you will need your computer or phone, headphones and blank staff paper. You will be working off of the AP practice page linked below. This is a huge site filled with practice examples from old AP tests. There is also access to the 1998 AP test I showed you in class in full PDF form. Feel free to download that and use it as a study guide.

Please remember... The AP test is split into three parts: multiple choice, free response A and free response B. You wll be focused today on only free response A and B.

A is ear training

B is sight singing

Please practice questions 1-2 for years 2018, 2017, 2016 during class today. Do this alone and with headphones. Complete the work on blank staff paper and be prepared to hand it in at the end of the class period.

If you finish early, please use your time to decide on your final project. We will need a decision on that by the end of the week.

Have a great day!
